Job Description
As a Bike Mechanic, you will be responsible for repairing, maintaining, and tuning bicycles to ensure they are safe and functional for customers. You will work closely with customers to understand their needs and provide expert advice on bike repairs and maintenance. Attention to detail, technical expertise, and excellent customer service skills are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
Perform a wide range of repairs and maintenance tasks on bicycles, including but not limited to: Adjusting brakes, gears, and derailleurs. Replacing worn or damaged components such as tires, tubes, chains, pedals, and cables. Overhauling hubs, bottom brackets, and headsets. Truing wheels and replacing spokes. Installing and adjusting accessories such as racks, fenders, and lights.
Skill & Experience
Knowing How Bikes Work: Understanding how bikes are put together and how each part works. Using Tools: Being able to use tools like wrenches and screwdrivers to fix bikes. Fixing Problems: Figuring out what's wrong with a bike and finding ways to fix it. Paying Attention to Details: Being careful to do repairs correctly and not miss anything. Helping People: Being friendly and helpful when talking to customers and explaining what's wrong with their bikes. Managing Time: Making sure repairs are done quickly so customers don't have to wait too long. Being Flexible: Being able to adjust plans quickly if something unexpected comes up. Using Hands Carefully: Being good at using your hands to do delicate tasks like adjusting parts. Staying Fit: Being strong and healthy enough to lift bikes and work on them for a while. Knowing About Bikes: Knowing about different types of bikes and how they're built. Being Safe: Making sure repairs are done safely and telling customers how to stay safe when riding their bikes.
